A lawsuit accusing a JPMorgan Chase executive of sexual harassment and assault against a junior male colleague has encountered significant obstacles after the investment bank's internal investigation concluded there was no evidence supporting the complainant's claims. The case was filed in New York County Supreme Court under the pseudonym "John Doe," though news outlets have identified the complainant as Chirayu Rana, a former senior vice president at the firm.
The allegations center on conduct allegedly perpetrated by 37-year-old Lorna Hajdini, who remains employed at JPMorgan. Rana claims the executive engaged in repeated unwanted sexual contact, including groping, oral sex, and administration of drugs without consent. He further alleges that Hajdini made threats against his career and family, and that the bank retaliated against him after he filed a formal complaint in May 2025.
Through her lawyers, Hajdini issued a categorical denial. "Lorna categorically denies the allegations. She never engaged in any inappropriate conduct with this individual of any kind and has never even been to the location where the alleged sexual assault supposedly took place," the statement read. An associate of Hajdini, speaking anonymously, characterized the lawsuit as "a complete fabrication."
A JPMorgan spokesperson said the bank's investigation involved cooperation from numerous employees but noted that the complainant declined to participate. "While numerous employees cooperated with the investigation, the complainant refused to participate and has declined to provide facts that would be central to support his allegations," the bank stated.
According to the complaint, the alleged incidents began in May 2024, months after Rana joined JPMorgan in March and Hajdini was appointed to his team in April. Rana claims the harassment escalated from verbal advances to unwanted physical contact and, eventually, sexual assault. He alleges that Hajdini administered date-rape drugs on multiple occasions and unlawfully accessed his bank account to monitor his activities.
Rana has pursued the case anonymously citing concerns for his safety and that of his family, claiming he received anonymous threatening phone calls after filing his complaint. His attorney, Daniel J. Kaiser, stated that Rana has been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and faces ongoing financial hardship. The complaint seeks compensation for lost income, emotional distress, reputational damage, punitive damages, and changes to company policies.
