Google Meet has expanded its automated note-taking tool to include individual subscribers of Google One AI Premium, removing the previous restriction to corporate Workspace users. This upgrade leverages Gemini AI to capture key points and action items during video calls, easing the burden of manual note-taking and follow-up tracking.
The feature works silently during meetings, analyzing conversations in real time to generate well-organized, easy-to-scan notes rather than a dense transcript. It automatically categorizes discussion highlights and urgent tasks, then saves the output as a Google Doc in the user’s personal Google Drive for seamless access.
After the meeting ends, the system sends a summary email with the complete notes and action matrix to both the host and participants, ensuring everyone is aligned on next steps. This functionality supports a broad range of use cases, from local community planning to small business coordination.
Google Meet users subscribed to the AI Pro or Ultra tiers, including eligible Workspace business accounts, can activate the note-taking feature on desktop and mobile platforms through two methods. They can initiate notes manually during a call by clicking the pencil icon in the Google Meet interface or set it to start automatically for every hosted meeting via the “Meeting records” section in Google Meet settings.
