Toast recently announced a surge in new restaurant sign-ups, adding a record 9,500 net locations during its latest quarter, surpassing its previous peak by 1,000. This milestone coincided with robust profitability and returns, signaling a significant growth phase for the restaurant technology provider.
Management signaled a strategic shift from purely scaling its customer base to heavily investing in artificial intelligence as the primary engine for future expansion. The company’s CEO emphasized that AI is no longer just a supplementary feature but an integral part of Toast’s platform, shaping software solutions and marketing tools that restaurant operators already rely on.
Toast’s AI-powered marketing product, Toast IQ Grow, became its fastest-growing offering to date. The company showcased a Louisiana-based restaurant that cut external marketing expenses by 70% and generated more than $100,000 in marketing-driven sales within two months after consolidating systems onto Toast and adopting IQ Grow. Toast leverages its access to customer transaction data to directly link marketing efforts with purchases, enabling more personalized and effective campaigns.
Looking forward, Toast plans to broaden its AI capabilities further, enter additional markets, and apply AI to enhance internal operations. The CEO articulated confidence in reaching a long-term goal of $10 billion in annual recurring revenue. For the upcoming quarter, the company projects non-GAAP subscription and financial technology gross profit between $615 million and $625 million, with adjusted EBITDA forecasted at $210 million to $220 million, underlining expectations of sustained growth momentum.
