eDreams ODIGEO (eDO), a leading travel subscription company, has teamed up with Visa to let AI agents directly execute travel purchases across its brands, including eDreams, Opodo, GO Voyages, and Travellink. This advancement marks a significant step in automating the travel buying process through artificial intelligence.
The collaboration leverages Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol and Agentic Directory to verify and facilitate secure transactions initiated by AI agents. At the same time, Visa Payment Passkey supports customer banks in authenticating each payment, using biometric verification methods like facial recognition or fingerprint scanning.
eDO’s Chief Marketing Officer described the move as an extension of their AI-first strategy, which has already laid the foundation for conversational travel services. The partnership with Visa aims to overcome the challenges of the complex global travel ecosystem by enabling AI-powered agents to seamlessly complete purchases, not just discover travel options.
Visa’s technology was designed to establish trust and legitimacy between merchants and AI agents. The Agentic Directory, launched recently, confirms that companies are authorized participants in agentic commerce, while the Trusted Agent Protocol ensures secure communication channels for AI-enabled shopping. Payment Passkey, a biometric identity verification tool introduced earlier, helps safeguard online payments.
This integration reflects an emerging trend where AI agents evolve beyond browsing and recommendations into fully managed transaction capabilities. Visa’s product leaders highlight that while fully autonomous AI shopping agents are still developing, crucial elements are now in place to support this transformation in travel and potentially other sectors.
