An Iranian military official has called on Qatar to grant access to an Iranian Air Force investigative team seeking to confirm the whereabouts of three Iranian pilots allegedly captured by Qatari forces earlier this year. The pilots’ fighter jets were reportedly shot down while returning from a mission targeting a U.S. base in Qatar in March.
The commander of Iran’s Missing Persons Search Committee criticized Qatar for denying the detainment of the pilots. According to Iran, one of the four pilots involved died in the incident, and his body was repatriated and buried in late July. The remaining three have not been accounted for, prompting Iran’s demands for transparent investigation.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry publicly rejected claims of capturing the pilots, dismissing Iran’s allegations on social media. Despite repeated requests, the Iranian investigation team has faced continuous delays and restrictions preventing a formal on-site inquiry. The Iranian official accused Qatar of obstruction and called for an end to the denials in favor of cooperation to clarify the pilots’ status.
