At least seven people died and more than 20 were injured during intense missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv overnight. The assault triggered the partial collapse of a residential building in the Podilskyi district and caused damage to multiple apartment blocks in the Darnytsia district, where residents remain trapped under rubble.
The attack involved a combination of ballistic and cruise missiles alongside drones, with explosions ringing out across the city as residents sought refuge in metro stations. Emergency teams rushed to extinguish fires and conduct rescue operations amid continuing strikes in the early hours.
This wave of attacks came hours after Ukraine’s president warned of an imminent, large-scale Russian offensive targeting Kyiv. It follows a similar brutal bombardment from last week that killed at least 31 civilians. Ukrainian authorities have called urgently for enhanced Western support, particularly requesting additional Patriot missile defense systems to strengthen the capital’s air defenses. The president emphasized that failing to replenish these systems only encourages Russia to extend the conflict.
