Kyiv also reported attacks on maritime targets, including two vessels linked to Russia’s shadow oil fleet and four dry cargo ships in the Black Sea, disrupting critical supply lines amid ongoing sanctions.
Adding to the deadly toll, a Ukrainian drone hit a passenger bus in Russia’s Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, killing five people—including women and a child—and wounding more than twenty. Russian officials have confirmed the incident, though independent verification remains unavailable.
These intensified attacks occur alongside Russia’s relentless ballistic missile barrage on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, deepening the conflict as peace prospects dim. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confronts a domestic political crisis after a recent government reshuffle exposed divisions within Ukraine’s military leadership between established commanders and reformist forces.
Public protests have erupted in support of the younger defense minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, and against the Soviet-trained military chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, reflecting fears that internal friction could undermine Ukraine’s war efforts.
