The Pickwick Street Fair, a growing cultural event in Springfield, will take place on Saturday, June 6, marking its fifth consecutive year. This year’s fair more than doubles its artist participation compared to its inaugural edition, now showcasing 80 creators from Springfield and neighboring areas.
Set between Cherry and Monroe streets along Pickwick Avenue, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a diverse blend of visual arts, music, and family-friendly activities. Admission costs $5, with free entry for children 12 and under. Local restaurants and bars around Pickwick and Cherry streets will provide food and beverages, complementing the festive atmosphere.
Despite a possibility of rain in the forecast, organizers emphasize the event will proceed as planned. The live music stage is protected by a tent, ensuring performances continue regardless of weather. Attendees are advised to bring umbrellas in case of showers.
The fair traces its roots to a small post-pandemic neighborhood event organized by a local resident. After that organizer relocated, current planners, including Pickwick Street resident Haden Long and collaborators from the interior design community, expanded the concept to include a broader range of artists from the region.
Artists attending this year represent varied styles and mediums, such as nature-inspired spray paintings, wood cutouts, and handcrafted jewelry. Many vendors have returned annually, helping to elevate the fair’s reputation and draw a growing crowd.
Besides art and music, the event features a dedicated kids zone, providing entertainment tailored to younger visitors throughout the day. This multi-faceted approach aims to create a welcoming space for families and art enthusiasts alike.
