The National Security Agency has reinforced its cyber leadership by appointing David Imbordino as chief and Holly Baroody as deputy chief of its Cybersecurity Directorate. This change aims to bolster the agency's efforts in identifying cyber threats and enhancing national cyber defenses amidst a dynamic security environment.

Imbordino brings nearly 25 years of experience across cybersecurity, intelligence, and election security missions. He previously acted as deputy director of the Cybersecurity Directorate and temporarily led it in an acting capacity. His background includes leading NSA’s critical election security operations from 2019 to 2021, coordinating protections against foreign interference in U.S. elections. His extensive operational and analytical roles at NSA provide a deep foundation for his new leadership position.

Holly Baroody steps into the deputy chief role bringing a robust portfolio of cyber and national security experience. She has served as a senior NSA official in the United Kingdom and previously held executive positions at Cyber Command. Baroody's career spans over a decade leading cyber operations and strategic planning within the Department of War, including service as deputy to the commander of the Cyber National Mission Force. Her early professional background includes work as a cyber defense operator and cryptologic technician analyst in the U.S. Navy.

Additionally, Bruce Jones was named head of the Cybersecurity Collaboration Center, an NSA unit that facilitates sharing cyberthreat intelligence between government agencies and private sector partners. This collaboration is vital as cyber threats grow more sophisticated and interconnected.

The NSA’s Cybersecurity Directorate was established in 2019 to serve as the agency’s central hub for cybersecurity efforts. Its mandate encompasses securing national security systems, detecting cyber threats, and disseminating defensive guidance to government entities and critical infrastructure sectors. The recent leadership appointments come at a time when evolving cyber threats demand strong and adaptable management to safeguard national interests.
