Representatives from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) gathered in Bishkek to tackle pressing challenges in cybersecurity and regional security. The meeting brought together interior and public security ministers, alongside law enforcement agencies and international organizations such as INTERPOL and the CIS Bureau for Coordination against Organized Crime.
The discussions centered on evolving cyber risks driven by rapid technological advances and their implications for regional stability. The ministers underscored the necessity of strengthening information security protocols and improving coordination mechanisms to counter cyber threats more effectively across member states.
Alongside cybersecurity, participants examined broader security challenges including transnational crime and the importance of sustained international cooperation. Kyrgyzstan’s president welcomed the delegations, emphasizing the SCO’s expanding role as a crucial platform for dialogue amid increasing geopolitical uncertainty.
The meeting culminated in the signing of a protocol establishing the agreements reached and setting a framework for their implementation. This protocol aims to reinforce joint efforts in crime prevention and maintain peace and security across the region.
