Donald Trump asserted that Iran’s military forces have been decisively weakened, labeling them “all talk and no action” while declaring the nation “the Bully of the Middle East is DEAD.” His remarks came amid reports of intensified US military pressure on Iran, including recent strikes and a sustained naval blockade aimed at halting the country’s economic and military activities.
In posts on his social media platform, Trump emphasized that many branches of Iran’s military, particularly its navy and air force, have been effectively neutralized. He accused Iran of delaying negotiations on a peace deal favorable to them and contended that this procrastination would come at a steep cost. Trump also highlighted the unprecedented effectiveness of the US naval blockade, describing it as a “steel wall” through which no goods pass unless the US allows it.
The former president further outlined a recent incident involving a US Army helicopter targeted by an Iranian drone. According to Trump, the drone became lodged between the helicopter’s pilots but failed to detonate as intended, allowing the crew to safely ditch the aircraft at sea. This rescue was reportedly the first time US forces have been retrieved using an unmanned sea drone. The episode underlined the ongoing tension and confrontations between US and Iranian forces in the region.
Beyond his comments on Iran’s military status, Trump signaled potential escalation, revealing he was close to ordering additional strikes against Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges. These planned attacks respond to what he described as Iran’s stalling tactics during drawn-out negotiations with the United States. He indicated a willingness to continue military action if Iran persists in delaying progress.
The presence of US Marines conducting aerial sniper and close air support training aboard the USS Tripoli also underscored the US military’s readiness to maintain pressure in Middle Eastern waters. This follows self-defense airstrikes carried out by US Central Command against Iranian targets, further cementing the ongoing campaign to limit Iran’s regional influence.
