The Congress party announced a sweeping three-month campaign aimed at confronting multiple challenges facing the country, including rising inflation, unemployment, exam fraud scandals, social inequality, and weak diplomatic responses linked to the Gulf conflict. Party leaders and workers across India will actively engage in street-level protests and public awareness efforts during this period.
This initiative was unveiled following a high-level meeting of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in New Delhi, where strategies for upcoming movements and the imminent Rajya Sabha elections were discussed. Congress General Secretary K. C. Venugopal emphasized the urgency of grassroots involvement, urging every party member to mobilize on the ground.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted the recent surge in exam-related controversies, notably paper leaks in NEET and various recruitment exams, which have eroded trust among millions of students and families. Rahul Gandhi has reportedly met with affected youth to amplify their concerns nationally, stressing the need to protect democratic institutions and social justice systems that are facing deliberate weakening.
The campaign also emerges amid political tensions following the rejection of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination in Madhya Pradesh. Venugopal criticized the rationale behind the rejection, noting no criminal allegations or charges existed against her despite a court notice. He further pointed to irregularities in Jharkhand’s nomination process involving a BJP-backed corporate candidate.
Addressing foreign policy concerns, Venugopal condemned the government's unclear stance on the ongoing Gulf war, reminding that three Indian nationals have died in the conflict. He also expressed apprehension over a proposed India-US trade agreement, cautioning it could adversely affect Indian farmers.
