Integer Technologies, a South Carolina-based applied research and digital engineering firm, will significantly expand its presence at LSU’s Digital Media Center, adding 23 new jobs with an average salary well above the local wage average. This development aims to strengthen Louisiana’s role in defense technology through fostering specialized talent and advanced R&D initiatives.

The company focuses on creating software and systems that enhance intelligence, autonomy, and decision-making for distributed maritime autonomous systems used by the U.S. defense sector. Integer’s expansion will increase its office footprint to support these projects, building on a $9.8 million contract from the Office of Naval Research.

Integer’s operations at LSU collaborate directly with faculty and students across multiple disciplines, offering hands-on research opportunities, internships, and workforce development linked to federal defense contracts. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) views this partnership as key to establishing a pipeline that channels state graduates into high-demand sectors like software engineering, AI, and defense technology.

The new jobs come with an average salary of $130,000, over twice the East Baton Rouge Parish average wage, indicating the high-skill nature of these positions. Besides expanding its workforce, Integer will retain nine existing employees, further ensuring continuity in Louisiana’s defense innovation efforts.

Louisiana supported the expansion with a competitive incentives package that includes participation in the state’s Digital Interactive Media and Software program, aiming to attract and sustain tech-driven companies like Integer in the region.
