The group aims to guide artificial intelligence toward safe, orderly, and fair growth that serves all humanity, stressing a people-centered approach.

At the Signing ceremony, attended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, key founding members included Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Indonesia, and Laos among others. The event also drew representatives from the United Nations, including Secretary-General António Guterres, and various government and international organization officials.
