Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais during the first Technical Committee meeting held under the Charter of Cooperation (CoC) in Baku. The session focused on assessing collaborative progress within the OPEC+ framework, emphasizing the Charter as a key tool for enhancing multilateral energy partnerships.
Al Ghais underscored Azerbaijan’s reputation as a dependable and constructive member of OPEC+, expressing appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev for his ongoing support of the alliance. The Secretary General described the meeting as a significant milestone for deepening cooperation among member countries through the Charter of Cooperation.
Shahbazov highlighted how engagement within the OPEC+ dialogue has supported Azerbaijan’s strides in renewable energy development. He credited consistent ministerial communication and a foundation of mutual trust for broadening Azerbaijan’s collaboration with international energy firms and advancing large-scale renewable projects.
Both leaders exchanged perspectives on future directions for OPEC+ cooperation, focusing on expanding partnerships across emerging sectors and maximizing the Charter’s strategic potential to strengthen collective efforts among participating nations.
