A multifamily residential complex in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood now features 64 Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers, creating one of the region’s largest residential EV charging installations. This upgrade allows residents to charge their vehicles conveniently at home, addressing a common barrier for EV adoption in multifamily housing.

The project, managed by Loop Global—an established provider of turnkey EV charging solutions—began its planning phase in early 2025. Physical installation kicked off in October 2025 and wrapped up by early 2026. The entire process from design to commissioning spanned roughly a year, with the installation itself taking several months.

Government incentives played a crucial role in enabling the project, as utility Eversource’s programs covered about 70% of the total cost. This financial support included funding for the charging infrastructure and part of the hardware, helping reduce the overall investment hurdle for the developer.

The charging stations are set within a secure parking garage exclusive to residents and authorized visitors. They are accessible 24/7, allowing users to charge overnight or any time their vehicle is parked. Loop Global oversees the network’s real-time monitoring to maintain consistent performance, ensuring reliable access around the clock.

Such developments are especially important in Massachusetts, where multifamily EV charging infrastructure has expanded slowly relative to demand. Providing onsite chargers removes dependence on public stations and supports residents’ EV usage without significant disruption to their routines.
