The Anchorage Assembly certified the 2026 municipal election results at a Tuesday night meeting and installed new members to its governing body. Brawley, who represents West Anchorage, was unanimously elected to serve as Assembly Chair, succeeding Christopher Constant, who completed nine years in office and reached his term limit.
Among the newly seated members, Janice Park won the midtown seat and will replace Felix Rivera, who termed out. An automatic recount of election results was conducted because the margin between Park and her opponent was 0.24%, which fell below the 0.50% threshold typically required to trigger a recount. Park is an Airbnb owner and participates in the Abbott Loop Community Council, the American Cancer Society, and Moms Demand Action.
Sydney Scout will now represent North Anchorage, taking the seat vacated by Constant. In the Chugiak, Eagle River, and JBER district, Donald Handeland will serve as the new representative, taking over for Scott Myers, who chose not to seek reelection.
