The Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (CTUA) and Turkmenistan’s National Trade Union Center have officially signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at strengthening institutional relations and expanding collaborative efforts.
This agreement reflects the broader strategic partnership between the two countries, fostered by the political will of their leadership, which has paved the way for deeper cooperation across various sectors. Trade union leaders highlighted recent mutual visits and exchanges that have increased dialogue on labor rights and social protections.
At the meeting, Sahib Mammadov, head of the CTUA, outlined efforts to safeguard labor rights while introducing innovative initiatives such as the digitization of the vacation voucher system and modernization of health resort services. These projects seek to improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to union members.
Oguljennet Berdilieva, chair of Turkmenistan’s National Trade Union Center, shared insights into her country’s labor protection activities and social support systems for union members, expressing commitment to closer collaboration with Azerbaijani counterparts.
The signed memorandum commits both organizations to supporting joint initiatives, expanding cooperation, and institutionalizing their partnership for mutual benefit.
During their visit, the Turkmen delegation also toured the CTUA’s facilities, including the “Kurort” Tourist Information Center and the Center for Labor Protection and Legal Assistance. They reviewed services at medical centers “Gunashli” and “Absheron” as well as the “Miras” recreation center, assessing treatment options, infrastructure, and recreational amenities.
