Uzbekistan and China have intensified their efforts to broaden economic cooperation, centering on trade augmentation, investment growth, and extensive infrastructure development. This agenda emerged during a recent meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Bobur Usmanov and Chinese Ambassador Yu Jun.

The discussions highlighted advancing joint initiatives in transport, logistics, energy, and high technology sectors. Both sides placed particular importance on enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects that could reshape economic landscapes.

In addition to infrastructure and connectivity, the talks explored avenues to increase Chinese investment within Uzbekistan’s economy. Cooperation extends beyond infrastructure, reaching into agriculture and social programs aimed at poverty reduction, reflecting a multifaceted partnership strategy. These conversations followed the eighth session of the Uzbekistan-China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee held earlier this month in Beijing, where both countries reviewed progress on bilateral projects and outlined future priorities.

China reiterated its support for Uzbekistan’s socio-economic reform agenda under the “New Uzbekistan” strategy, signaling continued backing for the country’s modernization drive. Both nations committed to maintaining close coordination to ensure the successful execution of shared economic and investment projects, underscoring a long-term vision for sustained cooperation.
