WakeMed and Atrium Health are opening the floor to public feedback regarding their planned merger after Wake County commissioners postponed a vote to allow more community engagement. This delay has prompted the two healthcare providers to organize a series of in-person and virtual forums for residents to express their views.

The forums will take place across various Wake County locations, including community centers and WakeMed hospitals, spanning from May 19 to May 28. A virtual forum is also scheduled to provide wider access for those unable to attend in person. Additionally, an online platform has been made available for residents to share their opinions conveniently.

The in-person meetings will start in the evening to accommodate attendees’ schedules. The first forum will be held at The Andrews Center on the WakeMed Raleigh Campus, followed by gatherings at the Tarboro Road Community Center, WakeMed North Hospital, WakeMed Cary Hospital, and the Chavis Heights Community Center. The virtual session will take place at midday on May 20.

The decision to delay the commissioners’ vote by 90 days has ensured that these forums can be held before any final agreements are reached, reflecting a focus on transparency and community involvement in the potential healthcare consolidation.
