India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi convened on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisors’ Meeting in New Delhi to evaluate the status of bilateral relations. Both officials acknowledged measurable progress toward gradual normalization, emphasizing the importance of stability and predictability in fostering mutual trust and understanding.

The discussions were described by India’s Ministry of External Affairs as constructive and forward-looking, highlighting a shared commitment to building a more stable framework for cooperation. NSA Doval stressed that developing stable and constructive ties is key to strengthening the overall relationship between the two countries.

In parallel, Ajit Doval also held talks with Brazil’s Secretary of Multilateral and Political Affairs, Carlos Cozendey. These talks reaffirmed the cooperation between India and Brazil within the BRICS framework and reviewed existing bilateral relations. This interaction reflects India’s broader engagements during its BRICS chairmanship, which convenes top security officials from member states to confront emerging global security challenges.

The two-day meeting centered on addressing non-traditional security threats—a growing concern among BRICS nations—focusing on how technological advancements contribute to security vulnerabilities. Participants exchanged views on the evolving nature of these threats and evaluated recent outcomes from BRICS initiatives targeting counter-terrorism and information and communication technology security.
