Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi held talks with Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami, India’s envoy to China, focusing on ways to deepen cooperation amid an evolving regional and global strategic environment. Their discussions assessed current frameworks and explored measures to enhance dialogue between the two neighboring powers.

The dialogue follows a recent meeting between India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, held on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisors’ meeting in New Delhi. Both sides reviewed recent developments in bilateral relations and acknowledged progress toward a gradual normalization of ties. NSA Doval emphasized that stable and predictable relations are key to building trust between India and China.

In addition to the strategic talks, Ambassador Doraiswami has been actively involved in facilitating the upcoming Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, an important pilgrimage route crossing into Chinese-administered Tibet. He visited entry points, accommodation facilities, kitchens, and medical centers prepared for pilgrims, coordinating closely with Chinese authorities to ensure smooth arrangements.

The ambassador highlighted the geographical challenges of the route, noting its high-altitude terrain with elevations exceeding 3,500 meters and reaching up to nearly 6,000 meters on the Kora circuit. He reminded pilgrims to prepare accordingly for the demanding environmental conditions of the sacred journey.
