During high-level talks in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to deepen China’s security partnership with Cambodia, emphasizing mutual support amid regional and global uncertainties. Xi highlighted Cambodia’s importance within China’s neighborhood diplomacy and committed to backing the country’s sovereignty and security interests.

The discussions with Hun Sen, Cambodia’s Senate president, focused on expanding political and strategic cooperation between the two governments. Xi called for increased trust and coordination to reinforce peace and stability in the region, underlining that stronger ties would benefit broader development and security.

In addition to security cooperation, Xi expressed admiration for Cambodia’s efforts to combat telecom and online fraud. He promised that China would collaborate closely with Cambodian authorities to dismantle criminal networks responsible for such cyber crimes. This commitment follows the establishment of the China-Cambodia “2+2” Strategic Dialogue Mechanism earlier this year, which brought together foreign and defense ministers to boost political and security collaboration.

Hun Sen’s visit to China was described by Beijing as an official goodwill trip aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties. The latest engagement builds on an ongoing strategy to elevate security relations and maintain stability amid shifting geopolitical challenges affecting both nations.
