A local news organization announced it had surpassed its $10,000 spring fundraising target, ultimately raising $24,000 through its "Spring Into Action for Local News" campaign. The effort was bolstered by anonymous donors who contributed $10,000 to match additional gifts from readers.
The newsroom received $14,000 in contributions beyond the matched funds, allowing it to exceed its initial goal by nearly $4,000. According to the founder, the money will support the organization's editorial staff, including reporters, photographers, and editors, as well as marketing and technical personnel.
Beyond payroll, the funds address operational costs including web hosting, graphic design, insurance, and other expenses required to maintain a nonprofit newsroom. The organization emphasized that donors can contribute at any time through its online donation portal, which offers multiple giving options including donations through donor-advised funds, stock transfers, IRA contributions, and planned giving through estate plans.
All charitable donations are tax deductible. The organization's federal tax identification number is 88-3919841. The newsroom also noted that supporters who missed the spring campaign are encouraged to donate whenever convenient.
