Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is poised to debut its inaugural electric Range Rover by the end of 2026, delivering enhanced performance that could surpass its traditional gas-powered counterpart. However, this advanced electric SUV will come with a significant price premium, potentially exceeding $150,000, signaling a shift in luxury EV market pricing strategies.

The electric Range Rover will feature a 118 kWh battery enabling an estimated driving range of 373 miles (600 km), a considerable distance for a luxury SUV. Powering the vehicle is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing a combined output of 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. These figures edge out the current 4.4-liter V-8 variant, which delivers 537 horsepower, and align closely with the plug-in hybrid model that offers up to 543 horsepower.

Beyond raw performance, the EV model will introduce several technological advancements, including single-pedal driving for more intuitive control and a twin-chamber air suspension designed to enhance comfort both on and off road. JLR emphasizes that this electric version represents the pinnacle of Range Rover offerings, redefining the model’s capabilities and driving experience.

Pricing for the electric Range Rover is expected to at least match, if not exceed, the cost of the gasoline version. In Germany, the gas Range Rover starts around €146,100 (approximately $165,000), while in the UK, the electric version could approach the price of the Autobiography edition, just under £150,000 (about $200,900). This positions the EV as a premium option, defying the trend seen in many luxury brands where electric variants often aim for parity or discount against combustion models.

JLR plans to expand its electric lineup aggressively over the next 18 months, unveiling five new EV models. Alongside the flagship Range Rover electric SUV, the company will launch a smaller, more affordable electric Range Rover Sport, which currently starts around €93,500 ($106,000) for the gasoline model. Defender, another JLR brand, is also preparing its first all-electric SUV and will play a critical role in the company’s US growth strategy.

Jaguar’s move toward electrification continues as well, with plans to launch the Type 01, the brand’s second fully electric vehicle, expected to be priced near $150,000. This follows the i-Pace and underscores JLR’s commitment to transitioning its entire portfolio toward electrification in the coming years.
