Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited prominent industrial units in the Khordha district to assess their operations and emphasize job creation for the state’s youth. His visits focused on two major manufacturing facilities—one in the apparel sector and another in strategic defence production—both pivotal to Odisha’s industrial growth.
At the Kalibeti Industrial Area, the CM inspected Trimetro Garments, a facility representing the Hong Kong-based EPIC Group’s first investment in India. With an investment nearing Rs 376 crore, this state-of-the-art unit manufactures garments for the international brand Uniqlo, positioning Odisha on the global apparel stage. The plant alone provides employment to over 7,000 workers, predominantly women, underscoring its role in both economic and social development.
The Chief Minister also toured Anadrone Systems’ factory at Mundamba Industrial Park, which specializes in advanced defence equipment production. This facility, funded with nearly Rs 97 crore, employs 165 people and fabricates cutting-edge devices including aerial targets, launchers, ground support gear, and ground stations. Majhi observed live demonstrations of the technology being produced, highlighting the strategic significance of this sector in Odisha.
During his visits, Majhi engaged with company leaders and workers to review current operations, job creation potential, and plans for expansion. He underscored the need to develop facilities and amenities that support employee well-being, urging industrial operators to prioritize skill development programs tailored to Odisha’s youth and to maximize local hiring.
To improve workers’ daily lives, the government plans to establish modern hostel accommodations and introduce electric bus services aimed at ensuring safe, convenient, and eco-friendly transport for employees. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to enhance workplace safety, security, and welfare, especially for women.
The Chief Minister stressed that Odisha’s young workforce should not be compelled to leave their home state in search of menial jobs elsewhere. Instead, the government aims to provide dignified employment opportunities within Odisha to retain talent and drive regional progress.
Majhi’s visits signal the state’s focus on building a balanced industrial ecosystem that spans labour-intensive manufacturing and high-tech defence production, with an eye on sustainable economic growth and inclusive development.
