The newly formed Association of Music Offices (AMO) aims to strengthen local music communities by uniting government offices, community organizations, and industry partners to share resources and best practices. The launch took place during the Music Biz conference, marking a step toward building a national platform that elevates regional music ecosystems.
The AMO’s founding members include 14 prominent government music offices from various states, alongside key community organizations and industry affiliates such as the Recording Academy. These participants represent cities and states known for cultivating cultural and creative industries, including offices from Dallas, Huntsville, New Orleans, North Carolina, Tennessee, and others.
Central to AMO’s mission is repositioning music as a critical driver of economic growth and community well-being, aspects often overlooked by local governments. The organization intends to act as a unified voice for music office leaders while promoting long-term cultural vitality and sustainable investment in creative economies nationwide.
The group will initially focus on establishing governance and membership frameworks, developing data tools to measure music’s economic impacts, and fostering community engagement that prioritizes diversity and inclusion. Additionally, AMO plans to develop a central hub featuring resources such as toolkits, funding options, and educational programs designed to support local music initiatives.
By consolidating expertise across municipal, state, and industry stakeholders, the Association of Music Offices looks to transform how public and private sectors collaborate to support music industries, aiming to build more resilient and dynamic local music environments across the United States.
