Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology, Feruza Khamidova, met with representatives of China General Nuclear Power Group’s subsidiary, CGNPC Uranium Resources Co., Ltd., to discuss potential partnerships in the mining sector. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, where both sides expressed interest in deepening cooperation, particularly in uranium exploration and production.

The delegation from CGNPC Uranium Resources was led by CEO Qiu Bin, who highlighted the company’s ongoing engagement in Uzbekistan. CGNPC previously participated in the fourth Tashkent International Investment Forum, exchanging views with Uzbekistan’s Mining Industry and Geology Minister Bobir Islamov and the leadership of the state-owned uranium producer Navoiyuran. Participants described the discussions as productive and part of an expanding dialogue aimed at long-term partnerships.

CGNPC Uranium Resources is a key player in securing uranium supplies for China’s nuclear energy sector. As a wholly owned subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), one of China’s largest state-owned nuclear energy companies, it focuses on uranium exploration, mining, and processing projects both domestically and internationally. The company maintains strategic investments and collaborations in numerous uranium-rich countries, including Kazakhstan and Namibia, to secure stable nuclear fuel sources.

Uzbekistan sees the Tashkent International Investment Forum as an important platform to attract strategic business partners for developing its mining industry, including uranium production. Both sides emphasized the significance of continuing discussions to identify future joint ventures and investment opportunities that could benefit Uzbekistan’s growing mining sector and China’s nuclear fuel needs.
